There is something distinctly eclectic about Portobello Road, Notting Hill.

The fusion of cultures that has been evolving since World War Two:  market traders intermingled with the vintage clothing shops, one off designer boutiques, restaurants, bars and cafes that cater to every palate and pocket; all give the road a vibrant energy that cannot be found on any other shopping street in England. This is an area where worlds collide and explode onto a colourful canvas.

Tucked away at the north end of Portobello Road you will find an oasis of calm amidst the every daily bustle. 'Hair Lounge' a salon that was opened here in 2003, by award winning stylist Charlotte Mensah, has a styling team and clientele that are truly reflective of its location.

Originally trained at the London College of Fashion; Charlotte went on to further her skills at Splinters of London under the guidance of veteran hairdresser Winston Isaacs. Over the years that followed Charlotte has worked to build an impressive C.V. She has been nominated for a number of industry awards, most recently winning an award from the European Federation of Black Women Business Owners, whilst gaining a following of celebrity clients along the way. Currently her work can be found in 'Black Hair Magazine' where she is the writer of a regular column "Natural Fix"

Despite her many successes and accolades Charlotte has both feet firmly on the ground. Clearly she is committed to delivering a first class service to all her clients.

The salon is relaxed, friendly and welcoming, Charlotte is quick to express that her doors are open to everyone, from young fashoinistas to their grandmothers.

 Although the salon operates on an appointment basis with Saturdays always busy, it is occasionally possible to drop in on a week day and be seen at short notice.

Services on offer include relaxing, permanent waving, colouring, weaving, cutting and styling. Additionally on site are a barber and a braid specialist.
