Who is June Forbes?

"I have known and worked with June Forbes in the hairdressing industry for over ten years. I was lucky enough to have been trained by her and through this experience I developed most of my own hairdressing skills under her meticulous guidance.
June is confident, talented and creative with exceptional cutting skills. She is trustworthy, honest and always professional.
June's added 'bonus' is her broad technical knowledge of both hair and hair products. With proper understanding of these areas your hair can be looked after at all times."

Having completed my hairdressing training In 1987 at Alan International School of Hairdressing London.  I went onto work in European hair salons in and around Central London. Whilst working as a manager for Robert Fielding salons I began to experiment with cutting and styling techniques, using them on Afro hair to create more individual looks.

In 1990 I was recruited by Soft Sheen products USA to train as a technical consultant. It was here that I gained a huge insight into the makeup and properties of Afro hair and subsequently became involved in conducting training seminars, teaching in salons and colleges (including London College of fashion), working abroad in Europe and Africa as well as taking part in hair industry and fashion shows.

In 1998 Burnett Forbes hair salon was opened In London's West End, by myself and accomplished hairstylist Julett Burnett. In 2003 however due to family commitments, I gave up my interest in the salon and began working as a freelance hairdresser closer to home. It was during this transition that I became very aware of the growing need for access to services and products for afro and curly hair by the growing number of people living beyond the radius of the major cities. Hence the idea for JuneForbes.com was born.

"I moved from Manchester to Oxfordshire in 2000 and so went from an area where there was an array of black hairdressers to an area where there were very few. My poor hair spent 3 years in the wilderness thanks to the paucity of the black hairdressers with very poor hairdressing skills: being intermittently platted with extensions damaging it even more.

June was recommended to me by a friend in 2003 when she moved out of her London Salon to work freelance. Thank goodness. My hair is back to looking healthy, well coloured, well styled and beautifully cut. June just loves hairdressing. She is creative, thorough and has a great technical knowledge and skill. Advice from her has certainly benefited me.  I have been to her every 6 weeks  for the last 6 years and it comes as no surprise her books are always full""
